Today, we went to the third community on our list, Valle Nuevo or "New Valley".
The people there were prepared for us. Although they didn't have a Canadian flag or anthem like San Martin on Mar. 16, the community leaders talked about their history and ethnic heritage.
The following is how the morning procedures went, and are very similar to the previous communities program of events, as with the rest of the day:
Intro by the Master of Ceremonies
Statement from the Principle of the School
Anthem (Guatemala)
Anthem (Canada)
Pledge (Guatemalean)
Dance (traditional)
Comments from the President of the school board
Comments from Frank Ridder on behalf of the Canada KPC Team
Statement from the President of the Community Development Board
Exit of the Guatemala and school flags
Community Official welcomes the team
Activities
Lunch
Fence-building
Playing the kids
Leave
We also had an incident today where Jasmine Fox of our team suffered from intense illness suddenly while at the community, however, she now sleeps well. A few others including Charlotte Brown, Callum MacLeod and Glenn Fletcher were feeling ill the previous night but Charlotte is now recovered and Callum and Glenn were fine by this morning.
A special thank you to our prayer partners and supporters.
